Flu/Virus

Health Notes from the Nurse

In order to help prevent the spread of illnesses during this flu/virus season, please remember the following our school policy:

Students who have had a fever of 100 degrees or higher, vomiting or diarrhea must be kept out of school for 24 hours after the last episode occurs and must be fever-free for at least 24 hours (without anti-fever medications) before returning to school.

Enteroviruses are found in the respiratory tract and spread from person to person when an ill person coughs, sneezes or touches a contaminated surface.

BASIC STEPS TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY & KEEP HEALTHY:

Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Teach your children to wash their hands often.

Avoid close contact, such as kissing, hugging, and sharing cups or eating utensils with people who are sick.

Cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow, NOT YOUR HANDS

Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, such as toys and doorknobs, especially if someone is sick.

Stay at home when you are sick and keep sick children out of school.
